Your First
Visit
Your first visit to our office is the most important one. It gives us
both an opportunity to get to know each other. Establishing a good
relationship is vital to achieving our common goals of improving and
maintaining your dental health.
For some patients, the first visit is
an emergency.
We reserve a limited amount of time each day for emergency
patients and within the time allotted we will diagnose the situation,
make you as comfortable as possible, and schedule further treatment
as necessary.
If there is not an emergency concern, the first visit
involves taking any necessary x-rays, a comprehensive exam, a diagnosis
to determine if infection is present in your gums, and treatment planning
of needed work.
This takes approximately 1 ½ hours. This time
is necessary
to accomplish several goals. After taking the necessary x-rays, one of
our doctors will discuss your concerns and desires of improving your
dental health. Each tooth will be examined for decay or defective restorations.
We will then discuss and outline a plan with you for any recommended
treatment.
